THANK YOU CAROLYN, WELCOME JULIE!

The phrase “the end of an era” is often an exaggeration, but in this situation, it’s spot on: Carolyn Popp has retired as CATS’ treasurer, and Flight 2 player Julie Brandt has stepped in. Carolyn was elected treasurer in 2011 and has served since, collecting membership and court fees, paying bills, and keeping track of CATS’ finances. For the last few months, Julie has been easing into the treasurer role. Julie worked for 18 years at as CPA for PricewaterhouseCoopers, holds a BS in Commerce & Accounting, and is a real estate developer.

Carolyn was also previously elected treasurer in 1991, then president in 2001. She served as president for six years, then stayed on as consultant for four years, then back as treasurer in 2011. Not to mention being a team captain and on the Social Committee for many years!

Carolyn’s retirement coincides with other changes in how CATS operates. For most of its 56-year existence, CATS has been loosely organized. However, when it was time to add Julie as a signatory to the CATS’ checking account, the bank required CATS to organize more formally. With the help of Jim Barnes (the Younger), CATS recently became a not-for-profit corporation. The old checking account was closed and a new one opened, which is why a new Zelle address – catstennistreas@gmail.com — went into effect late last year.

We thank Carolyn for her many years of service to CATS and wish her well. From now on, if you have any questions about your fees, you can contact Julie at jbrandt002@hotmail.com.
